Livestream Preaching Lab

July 17-20, 2022
BGAV Office
2828 Emerywood Parkway, Henrico, VA 23294

If we the Church are the “hands and feet” of Jesus, does worship really work in the livestream world? Can preaching and the other elements of worship reflect a theology of Christ’s embodiment? The pandemic has driven churches to build a strong digital presence, but many of our online efforts were initially an emergency response. It’s now become obvious that many people aren’t coming back to in-person worship, and it’s also clear that man yare finding our churches for the first time online.

The Livestream Preaching Lab offers three full days of hands-on training, workshop, and discussion in a small group setting to focus on preaching for a virtual congregation. The lab will feature a preaching workshop with Matt Snowden, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Waco, TX, and a homiletics adjunct at Truett Seminary. In addition, Josh Russell, an award-winning film producer, will be on hand to share how principles of filmmaking can improve preaching and other aspects of worship.

Participants will be asked to bring a sermon to preach during a hands-on experience learning camera angles, and lighting, and they'll receive caring feedback to take back to their church. Participants will get practical knowledge to improve the work of the “tech team” at their church (even if the preacher and tech team are the same person)! Most of all, the lab will be a time of fun, restoration, and encouragement in a season when serving in the church can be challenging.

The lab starts at 4:00 p.m. on July 17 and ends July 20 at noon.
