The United Baptist Church in Annandale, VA, is seeking a skilled administrative assistant who wants to make a difference in the local community while growing in a long-term role with increased responsibility. Job Responsibilities: • Provides administrative support to ensure efficient operation of office, maintaining church and mission center calendars. • Answers phone calls, schedules meetings and events, and supports visitors. • Carries out administrative duties such as filing, typing, copying, scanning, preparing church bulletins, and monthly newsletters. • Completes operational requirements by scheduling and executing administrative projects while expediting work results. • Exhibits polite and professional communication via phone, e-mail, regular mail, and occasional social media. Vistaprint by Cimpress or WordPress website experience is preferred. Writing and grammar skills are a plus. • Provides information by answering questions and requests. • Supports worship, missions, discipleship, and facilities teams by performing tasks related to organization, communication, research, and contractor/volunteer coordination. • Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, record-keeping, evaluating new equipment and researching options. • Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, and placing and expediting orders for office, kitchen, custodial and music departments. • Works closely with the Senior Minister to help implement vision and mission. Work Hours/Benefits: In-person employment hours are 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday (32.5 hours/week), with 30 min. paid lunch break, compensation, vacation, and sick leave. Initial 90-day probationary period will determine the suitability of both parties. Additional on-the-job training may lead to more responsibility and compensation. Skills and Qualifications: Administrative writing & editing, Microsoft Office, managing processes, organization & analysis, professionalism, problem solving, supply management & inventory control, verbal communication, property or facilities management, some college or degree, and 3 years of proven administrative experience.
