The Director of Communications and Media plans, directs, and evaluates the church’s communications strategies, messaging, systems, and channels, ensuring alignment with the church’s vision of touching the world with love by communicating the positive power of Jesus Christ to our generation. PRIMARY DUTIES : • Recruits, develops, resources, and directs a cohesive team of employees, volunteers, and contractors to utilize their knowledge, skills, and abilities to establish, implement and evaluate communication strategies and plans that align with and advance the church’s mission, vision, goals, and objectives. • Oversees the production of worship celebration services and other special events across all campuses. • Oversees the development and maintenance of dynamic websites that engage church members and guests and extend the church’s reach consistent with the vision of touching the world. • Oversees the creation, curation and archiving of content for use in print, on websites and apps, through social media channels and emails, and on radio and television. • Oversees the creation, implementation and evaluation of a social media strategy that is targeted and engaging. • Oversees the creation and maintenance of internal and external signage across all campuses. • Manages relationships with communication-related vendors, media contacts and consultants. • Develops, communicates, and enforces policies and procedures pertinent to church communications and media. • Solicits bids and proposals, evaluates responses, negotiates contracts and agreements, procures equipment and services, and monitors contracts, agreements, and projects. • Maintains supportive working relationships with staff and volunteers through close collaboration and proactive communication. • Develops and effectively administers the department’s budget. • Participates in staff meetings, retreats and other events as needed. • Participates in the selection, evaluation, and termination, as needed, of departmental employees. • Participates in professional development activities and programs. • Conducts regular meetings with department leaders. • Performs other related duties as required or assigned. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: • Master’s degree in communication, marketing, public relations, or related field required. • Minimum five years of related experience. • Minimum two years of supervisory/leadership experience. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, OR ABILITIES: • Demonstrated ability to recruit and develop a cohesive team to achieve organizational goals and objectives often in a fast-paced work environment while creating an organizational culture of excellence in church communications. • Comprehensive knowledge in developing multi-channel communication strategies, plans and tactics, media relations, and marketing programs to advance the church’s mission, vision, and goals. • Highly skilled in designing and delivering high-quality film/video productions, preferably with worship experiences. • Strong understanding of what makes for good writing, photography, videography, graphics, mobile app and website design and signage in informing and engaging internal and external customers. • Ability to measure, analyze and report engagement across church media platforms, adjusting strategies, plans and tactics accordingly to achieve high audience engagement. • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with communication-related vendors, media contacts and consultants. • Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures and practices related to church communications and media. • Demonstrated ability to write different types of solicitations including Requests for Bids and Requests for Proposals. • Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and negotiate contracts. • Demonstrated ability and interpersonal skills to proactively plan and work with staff leaders and groups to support and guide their communications efforts. • Demonstrated budget management skills. • Exceptional public speaking skills. • Strong planning and organizational skills, including keen attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple tasks, lead others to perform effectively under pressure and meet deadlines. • Demonstrated strategic, creative, and conceptual abilities. • Strong and effective decision-maker with an eye towards future needs. • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to guide and direct others to resolve technical and technology issues. • Ability to flex work schedule, as needed, to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
