Harrisonburg Baptist Church is seeking a Director of Music & Worship to lead our blended worship experience! This part-time (25-hour) role offers the opportunity to shape and grow our music ministry by working alongside our dedicated staff and congregation to inspire and engage our community through worship.
We’re looking for a faith-driven leader with choral conducting expertise, a heart for ministry, and a talent for fostering musical engagement across various age groups and styles. DIRECTOR OF MUSIC & WORSHIP (Part-time—25 hours)
Reports to: Senior Pastor
Supervises: Pianist, Organist, Media Ministry Assistant
Position Summary: The Director of Music & Worship assists in planning, coordinating and implementing Harrisonburg Baptist Church’s mission and vision as it relates to blended worship.
Salary Range: $25,000 – $30,000 Based on experience.
Start date July 1, 2025.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide music leadership for worship services
• Collaborate with the ministry team to plan worship services
• Direct the Adult Choir in rehearsals and worship
• Direct Praise Team in rehearsals and worship
• Coordinate and/or direct rehearsals of children’s music
• Coordinate and/or direct the hand bell ensemble
• Enlist and train participants for worship related music programs
• Identify and develop new leaders within the music program
• Work with the organist, pianist and praise team to plan and provide the appropriate music needed for the worship services
• Develop and submit the annual budget for the total music budget and provide oversight in the disbursement of funds.
• Coordinate with the media team for worship related needs
• Perform other duties as assigned by Senior Pastor
Qualifications:
• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant area, such as: Conducting, Music Education, Music Performance, or Church Music
• Instrumental or keyboard experience preferred, but not required
• A strong understanding of choral conducting and rehearsal planning
• Experience in blended worship leadership and planning preferred

• Possesses the ability to be a team member and to motivate others
• Ability to work effectively with the HBC Ministry Team and Administrative Staff
• Demonstrates strong organizational skills
