Job Description Worship Arts and Music Minister Summary: The Purpose of the Worship Arts and Music Minister position is to guide and support the worship planning process with the Senior Minister, as well as equip and supervise musicians and worship leaders. Responsibilities: ● Consults with the Senior Minister to capture the vision and philosophy of utilizing music and arts in worship. ● Incorporates the use of music and visual arts into worship. ● Participates in regular staff meetings and other meetings as scheduled by the Senior Minister. ● Serves as the primary Worship Leader. ● Submits to appropriate staff musical selections and additional information as required. ● Plans and organizes a comprehensive music program to include worship arts. ● Assists the Senior Minister in musical selections for regular worship services, weddings, funerals, and special projects. ● Attends offsite events with the Senior Minister as required. ● Coordinates musical programs with the church calendar. ● Manages copyright compliance with church personnel. ● Handles the purchasing, maintenance, and replacement of all music-related equipment. ● Remains informed on current music methods, materials, promotional ideas, and administrative techniques. ● Prepares an annual budget for music and worship arts ministries. ● Plans musical selections for worship services. ● Teaches diverse genres of music. ● Partners with the Youth Ministry to express the works of God through worship. ● Conducts musical training for rehearsals/sessions and implements workshops as needed. ● Creates and incorporates a Band Ensemble Ministry for worship. ● Ensures accountability for contractual musicians in the ministry. ● Adheres to church doctrines, policies, and procedures. ● Cooperates with staff, leaders, and the church body; be flexible while working with others in a team setting. Characteristics and Qualifications: ● An evident calling, quality training, and sincere passion to minister to the church through spirit lead worship. ● Loves the Lord and is a devoted follower of Christ. ● Possesses a passion for worship and a vibrant prayer life. ● Demonstrates leadership and proficiency in the music ministry. ● Maintains knowledge of music trends. ● Reads and plays sheet music (preferred). ● Plays music by ear. ● Expresses a vision for the worship experience. ● Senses the abilities and gifts in others for worship leadership. ● Develops and mentors musical leadership. ● Communicates and listens effectively to discern individual and team vocals. ● Teachable, humble spirit with a prepared and eager heart to serve. Education and Experience • Commitment to professional development (i.e., training, and continuing education). • Demonstrates a variety of musical styles and teaches the choir(s). • Musical proficiency to instruct and teach various vocal techniques. • Leading a congregation in public musical worship. FLSA status: Full-Time Exempt Salary is commensurate with experience.
