Budgeted Compensation: $5,000 annually Purpose: The purpose of the Worship Leader position is to facilitate moments of transcendent worship and to create communities of belonging and faith through music. Summary of Position: The Worship Leader will prepare and lead music for Sunday Worship and other special services. Specific Duties: -Participate in Worship Planning with Pastor, the organist, and others. -Lead congregational music in worship. -Invite unchurched musicians to join the choir or other ensembles. -Prepare Wednesday night choir rehearsals. -Prepare special music for special observances of Advent/Christmas, Easter, and others. -Encourage participation by soloists and instrumentalists on a regular basis including, but not limited to the Children’s Choir, Handbell Choir, Praise Band, etc. -Assist with instrument maintenance. Time On and Off Considerations: -The Worship leader will be expected at Sunday services, Wednesday night rehearsals, and weekly worship planning meetings. All other responsibilities will flexibly be taken in good faith. -As noted, the worship leader is expected to serve each Sunday of Advent, as well as Palm Sunday and Easter, barring an emergency situation. -July is generally considered a month off for church choir. Smaller ensembles can be arranged for special music. -The worship leader will be allowed 4 Sundays (with corresponding responsibilities) off each year, if they have secured a capable substitute.
