Sandston Baptist Church is a vibrant congregation in the heart of Sandston, Virginia, located east of Richmond near the Richmond International Airport. Our church is known for active, engaged people with a fervent love of God and a heart to reach the community. We average over 250 in weekly worship attendance with a Sunday School attendance of nearly 200. We understand our mission from Christ's Great Commission "to make His last command our first concern." The associate pastor whom God calls here will help us carry out this mission. We are looking for a man of God who is passionate for the Lord, loves people, and exhibits creative, contagious energy to draw people toward deeper faith in the Lord. Job Description: • Develop and implement outreach strategies to draw visitors to faith in Christ and membership at Sandston Baptist Church • Develop and implement strategies to encourage spiritual growth and ministry involvement from members • Assist pastor as needed in planning and leading church activities • Conduct funeral services in absence of the pastor • Perform routine pastoral duties including hospital visitation • Administrative duties – coordinate day-to-day operations of the church office and administrative staff • Coordinate church communications across various platforms, including print and digital media • Other duties as needs arise Personal Requirements: • Must be a mature and sincere follower of Jesus Christ with a heart for discipleship and outreach for non-members as well as members • Must meet the biblical qualifications of a pastor, as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; and 1 Peter 5:1-4 • Must adhere to the Sandston Baptist Church Constitution and Bylaws (available upon request), the Baptist Faith and Message (1963 edition) • Must become a member of Sandston Baptist Church • Must pass a criminal background check, employment/education verification, driving record check • Must be willing to provide three references. Skills Required: • Strong grasp of biblical discipleship principles and adult spiritual formation • Experience in recruiting training, and equipping volunteer leaders • Effective teaching in various adult ministry contexts • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Ability to relate to all ages • Knowledge of and skill in using social media platforms, computers and software Qualifications: • Seminary training preferred • Demonstrate a heart for pastoral ministry • Demonstrate good people skills • Demonstrate proficiency in office management Benefits: • Insurance • Retirement • Vacation • Sick Leave
