Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Early Childhood Caretaker to provide for the physical, emotional and intellectual stimulation and safety of the congregation’s children ages 0-6 years while working in the church’s early childhood room during the Sunday school and worship times, paired with an adult volunteer member of Pine Street Baptist Church. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children of various ages, including infants and toddlers, and possess a strong understanding of childhood development principles.
Responsibilities
Arrive on time to the early childhood room, at least 15 minutes prior to the service scheduled for. Stay until all children are secured with a responsible adult named on the parent/child list.
Greet each child and call him/her by name when dropped off by parent(s)/guardians.
Engage children in organized activities while staying in nursery, i.e. age appropriate songs, stories, lessons, crafts, etc.
Ensure the safety of the nursery environment, i.e. cleaning products and medications stored out of reach of children, outlet covers on electrical outlets, etc.
Communicate needs for supplies, snacks, etc. to the Sunday School Director.
Maintain current American Heart Association (AHA) CPR training for infants and children.
Complete training regarding identifying child abuse and neglect to include reporting procedures for Pine Street Baptist Church.
Education Requirements
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Requirements
Prior experience in childcare, preschool, daycare, or similar settings is highly preferred, but not required.
Knowledge of childhood development stages and best practices in early childhood education preferred.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
Certification in First Aid and CPR is desirable; willingness to obtain certification if not already held.
Excellent communication skills for engaging with children, parents, and team members.
Compassionate, patient, reliable, and enthusiastic about working with young children.
Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment while maintaining a nurturing demeanor.
