This position serves as the Stuarts Draft Baptist Church (SDBC) Family Ministry Coordinator. The Family Ministry Program includes children, youth, young adults, and outreach for the program.

Supervision: The pastor is the immediate supervisor of this position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Family Ministry: Plan and carry out the SDBC Family Ministry Program in coordination with church leadership and the Family Ministry Team. Plan and facilitate Sunday morning Sunday School and Extended Sunday School, special projects and events such as youth trips, retreats, mission projects, fellowship events, and other events that engage children, youth and young adults.

Coordinate and work effectively with church volunteers involved in the Family Ministry Program. Conduct meetings when needed or when appropriate for parents of children and youth and for young adults. Appropriately refer to the pastor any problems encountered by children, youth and their parents or young adults that need or require his attention, guidance, or counseling. Periodically, evaluate the Family Ministry Program in collaboration with the Family Ministry Team and the Pastor to determine program growth and effectiveness. Identify, and notify church leadership, of any problem areas. Facilitate continued development and improvement in all aspects of the program.

Outreach: Develop, plan and implement a comprehensive SDBC Family Ministry outreach program to attract families with children and youth and young adults to the church and to encourage them to grow in faith. Work with church leadership and the Family Ministry Team to engage the congregation in growing the Family Ministry Program through outreach efforts that concentrate on children, youth and young adults. Periodically evaluate the Family Ministry outreach program, in collaboration with the Family Ministry Team and the Pastor, to determine effectiveness of outreach. Identify and notify church leadership of any problem areas. Facilitate continued development and improvement of all aspects of the program.

Administrative: Prepare and administer the annual Family Ministry/Youth program budget. Maintain monthly records showing types of Family Ministry program activities and number of participants, as well as number and type of outreach efforts made. Present reports at quarterly church business meetings and monthly Church Council meetings. Attend other church meetings as required. Perform other duties as assigned by the Pastor.

Qualifications, knowledge, skill and abilities required: Knowledge of Family Ministry and outreach programs is required. A relevant degree in Biblical studies, education or related field is desired.

Knowledge of SDBC mission, goals and objectives and of denominational emphases and programs as they relate to the local church.

Be a person of faith practicing Christian principles and a member of SDBC.

Strong organizational skills including ability to work collaboratively with church staff and a variety of volunteers.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to relate to all age ranges.

Ability to foster a sense of belonging and spiritual involvement in children, youth, and young adults.

Knowledge of and skill in using social media platforms, computers and software pertinent to the duties of the position.

Fair Labor Standards Act: Non-exempt

Work Status: Part-time, 15 hours per week.

Ministry Status: Non-called, non-ministerial

Work Schedule: Five hours per week will be scheduled at the church during normal church operating hour, to include weekly staff meetings, if possible. Ten hours are flexible to accommodate church needs or Family Ministry activities.
