Kids Team Assistant Opportunity: First Baptist Church of Alexandria, Virginia
Church Overview
Since 1803, First Baptist Church of Alexandria (FBCA) has been a beacon of Christ's light, impacting our local community and the world. Our congregation's Christian influence extends from places like elementary school classrooms to the highest levels of U.S. government. Every Sunday, we welcome people from diverse backgrounds. Our congregation is welcoming, enthusiastic and eager to reach the world around us!
We are a multigenerational church reaching out with the message of Christ's love and salvation. With over 220 years of ministry, FBCA boasts a rich history of stability and missional focus. At FBCA, we live out our mission: It's All About the Gospel!
In 2020, we completed a major renovation, including our Children’s Lobby and elementary group spaces.
We are a growing congregation, with an average attendance of 160 or more in Kids’ Connection, our Children’s Ministry, each Sunday. To help us in our mission, we offer ongoing discipleship opportunities and special events throughout the year.
Vision and Mission
1 Timothy 2:4 tells us that God "desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth." FBCA is focused on this desire. Our church-wide mission is to help one another find and follow Jesus so that one day we will witness a multitude from every nation, tribe, and language united in worshiping our Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 1:8, Revelation 7:9).
In Kids’ Connection, we strive to connect children with Christ and to help them grow in their understanding of and relationship to Him. We recognize that parents are the primary faith mentors of their children, and the Church is called to support and encourage parents in their mission to disciple their children.
Through prayer, we've re-envisioned our church with the Gospel of Jesus as the bedrock of all our activities. We dream of a church where every member deeply embraces the Gospel and intentionally lives it out. For First Baptist Church—It's All About the Gospel. Leadership
Robert Stephens joined FBCA as Senior Pastor in January 2023. A relational and inspirational leader, Pastor Robert prioritizes pastoring and shepherding church members, visitors, and the community. He has established a 10-year strategic focus for FBCA. Our 25-member pastoral and support staff operate with a family-like approach, demonstrating deep love for one another and the church body. Kids’ Connection is shepherded directly by Kim Eskridge, Pastor for Children. Pastor Kim enjoys leading through relationship-building and collaboration. Laura Milroy serves as the Ministry Assistant for Kids’ Connection and works to make the moving parts work together in our ministry to accomplish the goals that God places before us.
