Founded in 1891, the quaint and historically significant town of Irvington, Virginia is the home of Irvington Baptist Church, which now contemplates the selection of a new full-time Pastor, to follow the current pastor's 38 year success and soon retirement. The church setting is rich in colonial history, diverse culture, and sustained family values. While retirees from Washington DC and Richmond are primarily attracted by this area's somewhat slower pace, access to coastal water activities and plentiful agrarian resources, there is much more here to learn and enjoy. Irvington Baptist Church's congregation is multi-generational, engaged and very active. Attendance at worship services, bible studies, celebratory occasions and robust youth activities are quite the norm. The position of lead Pastor has several requirements, including: strong compassionate leadership, modeling an authentic Christion life; possession of a strong Biblical knowledge and true joy for the Lord; license and ordination as a Baptist pastor; Master of Divinity degree (or equivalent) from an accredited seminary/divinity school and 10+ years pastoral experience; effective interpersonal and communicative skills, with strategic thinking and planning capabilities; proficiency in computer and technology skills; and possession of the Biblical qualifications as stated in 1 Timothy 3:1-7. Among the Pastor's key responsibilities are: present well organized, Bible-based sermons that edify, challenge and encourage; strategically position the church to thrive & grow; provide spiritual, pastoral, outreach, administrative and servant leadership to the congregation; safeguard, encourage and nurture the growth of our youth & young adults; and work collaboratively with our leadership team of Deacons & Committees. Regarding compensation, this is a full-time position. In addition to salary, compensation can include retirement, housing allowance, health insurance, automobile allowance, and travel/conference allowance.
