We are seeking a pastor with active interest in church affairs. We prefer pastor with some level of training and/or education at a seminary. We are considering a bivocational pastor to fill our needs. The new pastor should promote moderate theological views of the Christian faith and biblical teaching is of utmost importance. We are associated with the Southern Baptist Convention, the BGAV, and the Shenandoah Association of the BGAV. We recognize the differences between these organizations, but we are generally open-minded as a congregation and do not become polarized regarding these differences. We would like a new pastor that can respect that reality. Our expectations for our pastor also include competency, availability, leadership, loyalty, and cooperation. The age of our pastor is not an important consideration, but we are seeking a pastor that is open to changes to grow our congregation and community outreach. We would expect our pastor to be an active participant in that process. Traits of our new pastor should be caring, approachable, easy to communicate with, decisiveness, and have sensitivity to individual needs in our small congregation. A sense of humor would also be appreciated. We have older members who value visitation and comfort in illness. It was be a bonus if our new pastor and/or family had musical interests whether vocal or instrumental. We typically sing hymns during worship and music as a way to proclaim the Gospel in our community. We are contributors to missions both foreign and domestic and support their efforts in sharing the Gospel. We would like to see our congregation expand under our new pastor to include a more diversified congregation especially related to age. Regular duties will include preparing a weekly sermon, teaching adult Sunday school, and a weekly bible study.
