Massaponax is an unincorporated community in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, named after a Native American village. The name is believed to mean “corn as tall as man”. The area is home to various community organizations, such as Massaponax Baptist Church. We are committed to making disciples of Jesus Christ and serving our community. We offer a variety of ministries and programs for all ages, including Sunday School, discipleship studies, and local outreach and mission opportunities. We currently have Sunday morning and Wednesday evening services reaching members and guests from surrounding counties and the city of Fredericksburg, VA. We offer a traditional worship service with contemporary opportunities spread throughout, which is streamed weekly throughout Facebook. Pastor Profile The ideal candidate will be a senior pastor who will serve as a preacher, teacher, shepherd, overseer, servant and steward of Christ’s church and its members. He should have a strong biblical foundation, excellent communication skills, and a heart for ministry. The pastor will be responsible for providing spiritual leadership, preaching, teaching and overseeing the overall operations of the church. Community Profile Spotsylvania is known for its significant role as the “Crossroads of the Civil War”, with four major battles fought on its soil. In fact, our church was used as a hospital for both the northern and southern troops. Today, Spotsylvania is the pinnacle of suburbia, particularly the central and northern parts of the county. Schools are excellent. Many of our citizens work in the DC- area and reside in Spotsylvania County. New for Spotsylvania County in 2026 is Kalahari Resorts and Conventions, a large resort and water park complex, with indoor waterpark, outdoor pools, and an adventure park called Tom Foolery’s, a convention center, and numerous dining and shopping options.
