Langley Baptist Church Senior Pastor Job Description Langley Baptist Church is a vibrant, Christ-centered community located in the heart of Hampton, VA. We are a mission-driven family dedicated to sharing the love of Jesus through grace, joy, and the truth of the Word. Our services feature a blended style of worship with both contemporary and traditional music led by a live worship team. We are actively engaged in our community through youth ministries, prayer services, and local outreach events. Key Responsibilities • Preaching & Teaching: Deliver engaging, biblically sound, and culturally relevant sermons during our Sunday worship services in collaboration with the worship team. • Spiritual Leadership: Provide visionary direction to the church staff, deacons, and congregation, aligning with the church’s core mission. • Pastoral Care: Offer spiritual guidance, prayer, and support to church members during times of crisis, illness, and major life transitions in association with the Church Care Group. • Community Outreach: Champion local ministry initiatives, such as community giveaways, and youth events, to connect with the local neighborhood. • Discipleship: Oversee and develop ministries that foster spiritual growth for all ages, from children and youth to adults. • Administration: Ensure compliance with church Bylaws, and meet with church board and leadership, as needed. Qualifications • Education: Ordained Baptist minister with a Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Religion, Theology, or related field (Master of Divinity is preferred). • Experience: Minimum of 1-5 years experience in pastoral leadership. • Doctrinal Alignment: Agreement with Baptist beliefs and the core tenets of the Christian faith. • Character: A lifestyle that reflects the biblical qualifications of an overseer (1 Timothy 3:1-7). • Skills: Excellent communication, conflict resolution, administrative, and interpersonal skills.
