Job Title: Part-Time/Full-Time Worship Leader Church Name: Westhaven Baptist Church Location: Portsmouth, Virginia Overview: Westhaven Baptist Church, a fast-growing congregation dedicated to reaching more people in our community with an authentic worship experience, is seeking a relationally gifted Worship Leader. This individual will play a crucial role in leading our congregation in worship and building connections within our church community. They will work closely with a young pastor who is driven to reach people who are far from Jesus, contributing to our mission of making disciples in Portsmouth, Virginia. Responsibilities: Lead Worship Services: Lead engaging and meaningful worship experiences during Sunday services and other church gatherings, incorporating a variety of musical styles and elements of worship. Relationship Building: Develop and maintain strong relationships with members of the congregation, actively seeking to connect with individuals and families to foster a sense of community and belonging. Worship Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and lead a worship team consisting of vocalists and instrumentalists, providing guidance and support to enhance musical abilities and spiritual growth. Music Ministry Coordination: Coordinate and schedule worship team rehearsals, ensuring preparedness and excellence in musical presentations. Assist in selecting appropriate music for services and special events. Evangelism and Outreach: Collaborate with church leadership to implement evangelism and outreach initiatives, utilizing worship events and musical talents to engage with the local community and attract new attendees. Qualifications: Strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to Christian discipleship. Gifted in vocal leadership, with the ability to lead congregational singing and perform solos as needed. Proficient in playing musical instruments commonly used in contemporary worship settings (e.g., guitar, keyboard). Experience in leading worship teams and coordinating music ministry activities. Excellent interpersonal skills with a passion for building relationships and connecting with people of all ages. Alignment with the theological beliefs and values of Westhaven Baptist Church.
