BGAV Launches Federal Workers Assistance Grants for Churches

Funds will help churches meet the needs of federal workers in their communities

As the government shutdown continues to impact families, BGAV is stepping in to help by setting aside an initial $50,000 to assist churches in meeting the growing needs of federal workers who are currently without pay. While the number of employees affected varies greatly from community to community, many across the Commonwealth are facing real challenges — from paying bills to putting food on the table.

These Federal Workers Assistance Grants are designed as matching grants for BGAV churches. Funds may be used to help purchase food or cover essential utility bills for those affected. While these resources can’t fully resolve the situation, they are intended to ease a burden and give families a bit of breathing room during this difficult time.

Churches can apply for the grant using this form: https://vbmb.wufoo.com/forms/impact-missions-grant-application/

Once an application is approved, checks will be processed as quickly as possible. Churches with questions are invited to contact Dean Miller at dean.miller@bgav.org or 804-915-5000 ext. 7264.

For congregations seeking funding for ongoing food ministries not directly related to federal workers, a separate application is available: https://impactmissionsmovement.org/national/local-opportunities/hunger-ministries/
