Baptist General Association of Virginia (BGAV) is turning the page with the launch of Faith & Field, a monthly print publication that will replace The Baptist Paper’s “BGAV Edition” insert. Beginning this fall, Faith & Field will be mailed to all pastors, as well as BGAV committees, boards, and officers.

Gary Long, BGAV’s chief marketing officer, said the move reflects both a renewed tradition and a forward-looking strategy. “For the past year, we’ve shared our story through an insert in The Baptist Paper, and that partnership gave us breathing room to regroup,” Long said.

The name Faith & Field is no accident. It harkens back to BGAV’s historic rallying cry when the Bedford Plowboys were called to “leave the plow behind” and hit the mission trail. That same spirit of courage, sacrifice, and movement continues to inspire the work of churches across Virginia today.

Faith & Field will spotlight ministry stories, practical resources, event updates, and thought leadership designed to keep leaders connected to the work BGAV churches are doing across the Commonwealth and beyond.

“We want pastors to pick this up and not only see themselves reflected, but also gain ideas, encouragement, and connection,” Long said. “Our churches serve in incredibly diverse contexts, but there’s a common heartbeat of mission. Faith & Field is about capturing that heartbeat and helping us move forward together.”

The launch also reinforces BGAV’s broader communication strategy. Alongside digital tools like the Advance Notice enewsletter, website features, and social media reels, the print publication ensures leaders stay resourced and connected in ways that are tangible and lasting.
