Dollars and Sense: A Year of Faithful Stewardship, A Future of Shared Hope
David Washburn shares excitement for continued partnership in 2026
by David Washburn, BGAV Treasurer
As we close the books on another year and step into the fresh opportunities of 2026, I find myself filled with gratitude for the faithfulness of our BGAV family. Serving as your treasurer is not merely about managing numbers and balancing accounts; it’s about witnessing the tangible expression of God’s people caring for his kingdom work.
This past year, BGAV churches demonstrated remarkable generosity even amid economic uncertainties. Each contribution, whether large or small, represents sacrifice, prayer, and a commitment to something greater than any single congregation. Through your faithful giving, we’ve responded to disasters with food and shelter, equipped pastors through continuing education, partnered with churches on mission around the country and the world, and strengthened ministries that touch lives from our college campuses to our senior adult communities.
Behind every financial report are real stories: a church receiving a grant to help those affected by the government shutdown, a young seminarian receiving a scholarship to pursue their calling, children at summer camp who encountered Christ for the first time, and disaster relief that met neighbors in their darkest hours. Your stewardship made each of these moments possible.
As we look toward 2026, I’m excited about what God has in store for our shared ministry. We face both challenges and opportunities, but I’m confident that the same spirit who prompted such generosity this past year will continue to move among us. Our budget reflects the priorities of resourcing pastors, strengthening congregations, investing in the next generation of Baptist leaders, and advancing the gospel through sustainable means.
I want to personally thank every church treasurer, finance committee member, and pastor who ensures that cooperative giving remains a priority. Your partnership in the gospel makes kingdom impact possible far beyond what any of us could accomplish alone.
May we enter this new year with renewed commitment to the work God has called us to do together. Thank you for your faithfulness, your prayers, and your ongoing partnership in ministry.
