If you’ve always thought Christian community was confined to church gatherings and post-worship potlucks, think again! Christian communities are forming in all kinds of places among all kinds of networks. And we have a hunch that there’s an adventure right in front of you that will reanimate your experience of following Jesus!

Perhaps your imagination leans towards Outdoors Church, Recreation Church, or Arts Church. Maybe you have a special place in your heart for the special needs or recovery community. Or maybe you’d love to foster environments where adults and kids could get messy together as they explore faith, or open your home and dinner table to meaningful community with others.

Each month in 2026, Fresh Expressions is offering a 2.5-hour training event around a particular kind of fresh expression, sparking imagination and orienting everyday Christians the opportunity and practical guidance on how to step into this kind of mission adventure. Think of it less like a workshop and more like a launchpad!

- January 28: Messy Church—How to start a playful, all-ages community exploring faith through creativity, play, food, and friendship

- February 11: Recreation Fresh Expressions—How to start fresh expressions places in shared activity: pickleball, skiing, fitness, sports, and more.

- March 11: Rural Fresh Expressions—How to start fresh expressions that add a sense of joy, connection, and hope/healing in rural settings

- April 22: Recovery Fresh Expressions—How to start fresh expressions focused on the recovery community
