During a Global Leaders' luncheon at the Baptist World Alliance Women’s Summit in July, Uptick's Laura McDaniel received an award for Global Leadership. The summit, held prior to BWA's World Congress, took place in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, and brought women from around the world together for worship, fellowship, and connection.
McDaniel, who had been invited to speak at the luncheon, addressed the global leaders on the topic of "Living the Good News as a Jesus-Shaped Leader." Following her address, Merritt Johnston, executive director of BWA Women, presented the award as a surprise, lauding McDaniel's efforts in launching the partnership between BWA and Uptick that resulted in the formation of Uptick Global.
Over the past three years, Uptick Global has produced more than 70 alums around the world. Five of those were present at the luncheon and enthusiastically celebrated McDaniel's award and achievements. McDaniel said she was greatly surprised and deeply moved in receiving the award.
