After a year of fruitful collaboration, the Baptist General Association of Virginia (BGAV) is concluding its print relationship with The Baptist Paper (TBP) and will launch its own in-house print publication beginning this fall.

The final BGAV edition wrapped inside TBP will be the July 31, 2025 issue. This marks the end of a one-year agreement in which BGAV content was distributed through TBP’s national platform. The shift comes as BGAV continues to shape its communication strategy to better serve its congregations and leaders across the Commonwealth.

“We are grateful for the relationship with The Baptist Paper over the past year,” said Gary Long, BGAV’s Chief Marketing Officer. “As our needs have matured and our capacity has grown, we believe this is the right moment to take the next step and publish directly under our own masthead.”

The decision to bring publishing fully in house aligns with BGAV’s mission to create content that reflects the unique voice and needs of Virginia Baptists. Plans are already underway for a newly designed print product that will feature expanded storytelling, leadership inspiration, and church resources—all curated by BGAV’s internal team.

“Our churches deserve a publication that feels unmistakably ours,” Long added. “Bringing our print news in house allows us to better shape the format, schedule, and content to reflect the diversity and calling of our churches.”

While the final design and production timeline are still being finalized, BGAV anticipates a relaunch of its print publication by early fall 2025. The organization is also exploring new digital and multimedia formats to complement the print piece and provide timely updates to its network.

BGAV’s news content will continue uninterrupted through its digital platforms and e-newsletters throughout the transition.

Readers can rely on this shift to self-publishing to offer even more tailored, accessible, and relevant content in the seasons ahead.

More information on the upcoming print relaunch will be shared later this summer.
