Join us for the 2026 Annual Meeting and 150th anniversary of the Virginia Baptist Historical Society (VBHS), at River Road Church, Baptist, on Thursday, June 4, with dinner at 6 pm (fellowship hall), followed by the program at 7:15 in the sanctuary. The meeting is open to all; dinner is by registration in advance.
For this special occasion, we will reflect on 150 years of the work of the Society as well as 250 years of the United States. The evening will open with various greetings, including reflections from BGAV president and chief of the Chickahominy Tribe, Stephen R. Adkins, followed by news of the VBHS and the keynote address from Melissa Rogers: What Baptists Got Right at the Founding and Why It Matters Today.
A nationally known expert on religion in American public life, Rogers’s areas of expertise include the United States Constitution’s religious liberty guarantees and the interplay of law, religion, policy, and politics. Rogers currently serves as Distinguished Scholar in Faith, Law, and Public Policy at Wake Forest University’s School of Divinity and as a nonresident senior fellow in the Governance Studies program of the Brookings Institution.
